What are Lip Injections?

Lip injections, also known as lip filler or lip augmentation, volumize and define the lips using dermal fillers in a quick and easy cosmetic procedure. Using hyaluronic acid filler, lip filler injections are the safest way to achieve plumper lips while maintaining a natural appearance.

Dermal fillers are injected as a gel-like substance with products varying in viscosity. The smooth gel fillers then draw in water to fill in facial lines or provide volume enhancement in the areas they are precisely and strategically placed in.

These cosmetic treatments can also reduce fine wrinkles around your mouth and vertical lip lines, providing a more hydrated appearance that combats the decrease in volume that naturally happens with age.

Juvéderm Ultra XC & Juvéderm Ultra Plus

Juvéderm Ultra® XC by Allergan provides versatility in contouring and volumizing mild to moderate facial wrinkles and folds. Juvéderm Ultra Plus® XC is a more robust formulation for volumizing and correcting deeper folds and wrinkles. These fillers also provide limited contouring and scar correction, and moderate lip enhancement.

Results after treatment with Ultra® XC or Ultra Plus® XC can last 6 to 9 months.

Juvéderm Volbella XC

Juvéderm Volbella XC uses patented Vycross technology specifically designed to give definition and fullness to the lips while maintaining natural lip motion. Juvéderm Volbella XC is also used to smooth lip lines and other fine wrinkles around the mouth.

Results last up to a year after treatment.

Restylane Silk

Restylane Silk is the first FDA-approved product specifically designed for lip augmentation and treatment of fine lines around the mouth. The aging process leads to lip thinning, loss of definition, and an increase in lines around the mouth. Restylane Silk provides natural-looking results in these areas by using smaller, smoother hyaluronic acid particles than those used in other Restylane products.

Treatment can last up to a year.

What Can I Expect from Lip Injections?

The lip augmentation process is quick, taking less than an hour. Patients are given numbing cream prior to their lip filler procedure to ensure total comfort throughout the entire procedure.

Filler is then injected directly into the lips, placed strategically and precisely to provide desirable volume, keeping the shape and proportions of the lip in mind. The injection process typically takes 15 minutes with results immediately visible.

In addition to quick treatment time, there is minimal pain associated with the treatment, making this a convenient treatment option for enhancing your appearance.

What Should I Expect After Lip Injections?

After your lip injection treatment, your results should be readily visible. You may experience mild swelling or bruising at the injection sites afterward, but this typically goes away within a few days, and you will be able to enjoy the full results of treatment.

While recovery is minimal, using an ice pack or cold compress can help reduce any swelling or discomfort. Avoiding strenuous activity and refraining from touching or rubbing the treated area can also help ensure optimal results.

Lip injections don’t require any downtime, so you can return to work and other normal activities immediately following your appointment.
